Snow Day

SnowDayKitties

This is my first snow day as a self-employed-working-from-home freelancer. It's not quite as exciting as getting that unexpected day off used to be but there's still that undeniable energy in the air. The kind of energy that forces you to stay in your pajamas and cook all day.

Snow days are best enjoyed as follows:
• Copious amounts of cuddling
• Baking and eating as many cookies as possible
• Followed up by some sort of hot meal that steams up all the kitchen windows
• Clean sheets fresh out of the dryer
• Trekking to the neighborhood hill for sledding
• And then to the pub for a microbrew
• Snow Cream - a bowl of snow with homemade vanilla extract, almond milk and maple syrup
• A super hot shower with Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap
• More cuddling accompanied by movies

What should I add to my snow day list?

I always make sure I work in a cup of hot cocoa or tea.
Also, boil some water on the stove with a stick of cinnamon in it to make the house smell wonderful and acts as a poor man humidifier.

That sounds divine! I've never had a snow day, so I can't add anything to the list, but I will keep this list in mind if I ever have a snow day.

A good book! I'm reading Just Kids by Patti Smith. Highly HIGHLY recommended! Stay warm. xo.

p.s. Snow cream?! YUM.

I believe you left off; roaring fire and hot chocolate.

We are bracing ourselves for a massive snow storm tonight as well... but unfortunately, the one week I have to report into work without any excuses happens to be this week. FML.

glad to see someone is enjoying their snow day, as deserved : )

Oh yay! Kitty number 2 makes an appearance this post. Is s/he shy? I feel like we hear more about Scooty Boots.

It snowed here today too. Tomorrow being groundhog day it looks like at least six more weeks of winter to me.

Please excuse the ignorant Australian over here, but Whaaaa??! You can EAT snow? that sounds magical!

Ah yes! Tea and hot chocolate. Today we enjoyed a cup of hot pineapple and ginger green tea with a bit of coconut milk.

Vanessa - Dinahsaur isn't quite as friendly (camera or otherwise) as Scooty Boots. She still gets lots of love - Boots is just way more personable.

April Rose - It's amazing! You need to experience snow!

eating popcorn and wearing fuzzy socks.

Looks like the kitties got the snuggling part down.
Add a nice relaxing bath followed by pyjamas and a cozy house coat and slippers.

i've never tried snow cream - i must!

Yep, I think you nailed it. I baked macaroons (see http://cookieandkate.com/2011/healthy-macaroon-recipe/) and snuggled with my dog all day. Now I'm drinking Guinness and dreading tomorrow's workday. I vote for another snow day!

I really miss living in the midwest and having a random snow day! Needless to say, I'm super jealous of that!

Kate - I feel like we have identical nooks with identical light! Those macaroons look AMAZING. I'm going to have to try them out.

My cats are always more than willing to cuddle on a snow day...even on non-snow days.

I was going to suggest my Canadian-born fiance's favourite snow-thing, which is a snow-cone with maple syrup but I see you have this but on steroids (hello, > homemade vanilla extract?!) so I'll just be quiet.
Maybe some playing with the kitties.
I have no other suggestions. My snow experiences involve tromping around and throwing snowballs because the experience is always so fun and novel. ;)

Houston may have a Snow Day this Friday. Nice.

I'd take a nap, throw some cats on and watch HGTV all day. ;)

Pineapple tea!!? Where do you find this?

I'd add organizing something. I find organizing fun so I might be the only one that has this on her list of snow day fun!
