Sunday: Garden Spider and Ratatouille

While mowing, Jeremy found a garden spider living right next to our veggie "garden".

Meanwhile, I was cooking up some Ratatouille.

I think it's become a thing for me to try out new (and possibly complicated) recipes on Sundays. We ate this over cous cous with a dollop of goat cheese on top. And the best part is we used fresh veggies from two different friends gardens (thanks Kevin for the bell peppers and thanks Ashley for the zucchini). Delish.

AAAAHHHHHHH!!! Why did you post that picture of that gnarley spider?????

Brandi - It's harmless! She's protecting our veggies! :)

the food looks amazing!! and i love couscous. it's soooo yum made with olive oil, grape tomatoes, and asparagus with parmesan!

What a beautiful ratatouille! It reminds me of the perfect version that was offered up at the end of the movie of the same name. And you are bring back pleasant memories of my childhood with that spider. We had a similar one outside of our back door when I was growing up. We name it Charlotte...no one had the heart to get rid of her, especially with all of the effort she put into her web and then when she laid an egg sack we certainly couldn't ask her to relocate!

Lesli - that sounds simply delicious! I've had a veggie crush on asparagus for quite some time.

Laura - That is so sweet! Wikipedia said these spiders mostly live in one place their whole lives. I'm not sure what the lifespan is but it's sweet to think she could make her home (and babies) on our back deck. Oh - and the ratatouille recipe is called Ratatouille's Ratatouille but I've never seen the movie so I didn't get it!

your ratatouille looks so pretty! i like your burgeoning sunday dinner tradition. i say keep it up!

p.s. please see Ratatouille. it is SO good. unless you hate pixar, then maybe not. but we love it!

I am obsessed with the smitten kitchen site right now. I cannot stop lusting over all of the delicious recipes! That ratatouille looks so delicious!

woahhh that ratatouille looks amazing.
